The Zukuka Music & Drama Group Soon Releasing an Album
Kifamba Sub County is one of the areas faced with an acute problem of orphans and vulnerable children. This has been as a result of the devastating AIDS scourge that has claimed lives of many residents and incapacitating others still living with the HIV/AIDS virus.
Most of the affected children can not access quality education especially after completing the primary school level. School drop out levels are so high for the school going age. With the realization of the above, Zukuka program came up with an idea of tapping sustainable and career oriented talents that can develop the youth. In so ding Zukuka has now identified two groups that are being facilitated to develop their music, Dance and drama career potentials.
One of the groups led by Natooro has gone a long way with the idea of music and Drama. They have already composed many songs on community mobilization focusing on the major objectives of Zukuka, that is; AIDS/HIV prevention and awareness, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, food security, public Health and Sanitation and political sensitization. This group has already finalized recording of their first album with Steave Jean- Uganda’s best music producer. The album has six songs composed and sung by Natooro- the group leader, Moses Kasubika A.K.A Trekerman and John Paul Tamale and will be released soon.
This group has already served the community through their edutainment shows to various gatherings. With Zukuka they have gone along way in dissemination of information especially in the on-going sensitization workshops on AIDS/HIV prevention campaign funded by the Uganda Global Fund. Zukuka has provided instruments and costumes to these youths and is still committed to developing them into competitive music and drama groups as a way of creating income generating opportunities for them.
